Where is the choir held?

We meet on a Wed evening from 7.15-9.15pm, upstairs in The Guildhall, Chard. (There is a lift)

Who can be in the choir?

Anyone from 16 years of age

Do you hold auditions?

Never

Do I need any experience of singing?

No, just enthusiasm

Do I need to read music?

No, all songs are taught by ear. All you have to do is listen.

I’m not sure I can hold a part in harmony?

The songs are sung in parts, which are taught separately. You choose a part and sit between others singing the same. Pete will go over each part as many times as necessary.

Does the choir perform to the public?

The choir has performed and continues to do so, at many local events including fetes, charity fundraisers, Christmas lights switch on and in Care Homes. Also at The Stourhead Festival, South Petherton Folk Festival, Dalwood Music Day & Symondsbury Christmas Market. The choir has also put on charity concerts at The Guildhall in aid of St Margarets and The Air Ambulance. These are optional.

Does the choir sing unaccompanied?

Yes, we do not have instrumental accompaniment, but Pete does give us the starting note.

Is there local parking?

There is plenty of nearby parking on the street or car parks which are free in the evening. There is disabled parking outside.
